Hand-painted illustrations
The illustration was inspired by the first Moomin ceramic products — children’s dishes sold in the 1950s, which were decorated with hand‑painted Moomin motifs by Tove Jansson.
Marking Moomin Arabia’s all-time first collaboration, Moomin Arabia x BEAMS Japan collection takes over the Moomin Arabia Webshop! Available only at the Moomin Arabia webshop on 3 June at 10am (EEST).
The collection includes limited-edition Moomin Arabia ceramics treasures and BEAMS apparel gems that homage early Moomin ceramics and Tove Jansson’s hand-painted artwork. Catch your favourites exclusively at moominarabia.com.
Moomin enthusiasts in Japan were forming queues in excitement late last year already, as the collaborative collection was launched at Beams's Flagship store in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Now, a selection of items from the collection will be available–for the first time exclusively–at Moomin Arabia's webshop in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Germany and UK.
The collection features two must-have limited-edition ceramic pieces: a hand-painted mug featuring Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden, and a Moominmamma mini figurine.
The ceramic Moominmamma mini figurine is another collector’s gem, portraying Moominvalley’s caring mother figure. The original design is from the 1990s–only this time, the Moomin mother is wearing her important handbag in the iconic Beams orange.
These illustrations are inspired by the beloved comics Moomin on the Riviera (1955) and Moomin Under Sail (1959). As the Riviera story goes, the travel plan is Moominpappa and Snorkmaiden’s idea, because they want to travel south and “feast all night”. Some elements for the illustration are also picked from the Moomin and the Comet (1958) comic.
The mug is inspired by the all-time first ceramic dishes featuring Tove Jansson’s Moomin artwork from the 1950s sold in Finland and Sweden. The dishes were a children’s dining set with hand-painted Moomin characters. Featuring Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden, the new mug is designed in the same delicate and crafty style as an homage to the originals. The illustrations are hand-painted, and the mug features a bottom stamp and a text signifying the Beams collaboration.
For the collaboration, Beams Japan designed an exclusive capsule collection inspired by the collaboration’s Moomin Arabia ceramics. The hand-painted artworks of Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden are featured in two different t-shirts, caps and pin badges, so you can choose between Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden, or go with both to match the characters to your daily outfits and mood.
With a flagship store in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Beams Japan offers a carefully curated selection of Japanese and international brands. From high-end apparel, homeware, one-of-a-kind accessories and limited-edition collaborative pieces, Beams’s engaging selection combines contemporary style with Japanese heritage and is the go-to treasure-trove for fashionistas and lifestyle buffs.
All Moomin Arabia x Beams Japan items are available exclusively at Moomin Arabia webshop, moominarabia.com, in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Germany and UK from 3 June 2026 at 10am (EEST) until the stock lasts.
