While stepping into preschool or school opens a new chapter with new responsibilities and routines, no one said it couldn’t also be a start for a great adventure! The new kids collection takes the youngster to space and back, turning curiosity into courage, discoveries and ideas at home and outside playing with friends.

From Earth to space and back with Moomin friends – two wonderful designs

The collection consists of two designs: ”Space Adventure” invites kids to discover the wonders of the extraterrestrial and “Under the Umbrella” showcases the joys of the often disliked earthly weather phenomenon, the rain.

Space Adventure is based on Tove Jansson’s humorous and warm-hearted comic strip Moomin and the Martians (1957). In the story, a Little Martian with their strange device shipwrecks in Moominvalley. When Moomintroll fiddles the unidentified gadget, the peaceful everyday life turns into chaos. Moominmamma and Moomintroll get shrinked. Sniff tries to make money by selling the device’s parts. No one knows a way to get the Little Martian home. Luckily in the end, the Martian parents arrive to turn everything into how they were.
Some elements of the design, such as the blazing comet, are picked from the novel Comet in Moominland (1946).

Inspiration for the Under the Umbrella design comes from Jansson’s twist-filled comic strip Moomin Falls in Love (1956). In the story, a heavy rain floods Moominvalley, and the Moomins help rescue the stranded. The flood slowly retreats, but the rain stays. Now, with moods lightened, everyone finds their unique way to enjoy themselves.

The design also features elements from the comic strip Club Life in Moomin Valley (1957).

The first children’s tableware set in a decade

The Moomin children’s tableware is Arabia’s first one since nearly a decade. The novelty features a lively mix of colours and spark joy in the everyday.

Including mugs, plates, cutlery, and napkins, the new children’s tableware set has a colourful set of moominous joy for kids to get inspired on a school day morning or at any meal on any day of a new adventure.
The dishes and cutlery come with both designs, the blue-toned Space Adventure and the red-toned Under the Umbrella – the choice is yours. The packaging can be used in the kids’ room as a storage box or part of games and play.

Adventures start in the kids’ room and continue outside – no matter the weather

The collection also includes textiles and interior items with both designs. The bed linens make you dream big and wake up inspired. The toddlers in the family get a soft hug from the hooded towel and bath ponchos.
The collection also has a selection of practical storage items for school and other important stuff. A storage cloth hung on the wall near the desk keeps stationery and small items easily at hand. Toys and hobby items fit in the round canvas storage baskets, and picture frames are for featuring the best (pre)school portraits or photos of friends.

The rain shouldn’t hold you back! Just like in Moominvalley, even rainy days can turn into fun adventures, and for that, an umbrella comes in handy. A lunch box with snacks keeps you going and a thermos bottle filled with hot cacao helps keep you warm – no matter if the expedition takes place in the yard or in space.
