Explore the stories behind Moomin Arabia Collections

The beloved Moomin stories by the Finland-Swedish author and artist Tove Jansson have inspired Moomin Arabia tableware and other ceramic items since the 1950s, the decade when the first-ever Moomin dishes were made. Jansson depicted Moomins' adventures in her novels, picture books and comic strips. In them, love, family and friendships, togetherness, adventures and wonder are major themes. From the Moomins, we can learn that everything can be resolved with an open mind and respect for all aspects of life. The Moomin Arabia collections continue to share this positive life philosophy, also known as Moomin philosophy, and bring it to your home for the mooments of everyday and celebration.

Who are the Moomins?

The happy and benign Moomintroll, the gentle and resourceful mother, Moominmamma, the adventurous memoirist father, Moominpappa, and their quick-tempered fosterling, Little My, make up the Moomin family. The four live in a round blue, three-storey Moominhouse in the idyllic Moominvalley. The family often have some of their many friends over, and the doors of the Moominhouse are always open to new acquaintances, too. Get to know the Moomins and their friends!
