General information

 

What is the Moomin’s Day and how is it celebrated?

Tove Jansson’s birthday is on 9 August, and this day has been celebrated as the Moomin’s Day since 2004. Tove Jansson created her valuable life’s work in the art and literature sectors, and she is most widely known as the creator of the Moomins and her substantial, relatable content concerning the lives of the Moomins. This life’s work appeals to a large number of Finns spanning several generations, and to international audiences around the world.

 

Where are the mugs manufactured? 

The products are manufactured in Thailand. A significant share of the work phases related to the Moomin’s Day mugs (as well as other Moomin Arabia’s products), such as design, marketing and distribution, are carried out in Finland.

 

How much does the Moomin’s Day mug cost?

The price of the Moomin’s Day mug is 39.90€

 

Are there any additional Moomin’s Day products to buy?

Yes. This year we also sell the Moomin’s Day GOTS certified kitchen towel (16.90€), t-shirt (29.90 €), tote bag (24.90€) and key chain 4.90€). The stock for the products is also limited. 

If you buy more than 3 mugs, you will get the kitchen towel for free (as long as the stock lasts). The offer is valid only on moominarabia.com. Limited to one kitchen towel per order.

 

When will I know if I receive a free gift with my order? 

You will receive a free gift when you add at least three mugs to your cart. The item will automatically appear in your cart. Please note that the towels are available in limited quantities. Limited to one kitchen towel per order.

 

When will the sales start and how many mugs will be sold? 

The mugs will be available from 9 August 2025 at 10am (EEST) from the Moomin Arabia webshop.

As a listed company we cannot comment on the amount of the mugs we are selling. The mugs are available only as long as the limited stock lasts.

Where are the products sold?

The mugs will be sold online at moominarabia.com and Moomin.com. 

In Denmark the mug is sold  at Illums Bolighus Amagrtorv, Imerco Roskilde and Imerco Fredriksberg.   

In Germany the mug is sold at Hartog Berlin, Kustermann Munich and llums Bolighus Hamburg.

 

Is there any limitations on how many products I can buy?

The number of items is limited to 6 mugs per one buyer. We recognize it can be bought as a gift too, and want to offer a chance to buy this special mug also for gifting purposes.

 

Is it possible to reserve the products in advance?

It is not possible to reserve or order the items in advance.

 

Is it possible that the products will be sold out immediately?

The products will become available on the said date (9.8.2025 at 10 am EEST) and they are sold as long as the stock lasts. It is not possible to give an estimation on the availability, but the stock is very limited and there will not be any additional stock coming. The stores will start selling the mugs according to their opening times.

 

Are the mugs numbered, or otherwise marked in some way? For example, with a bottom stamp?

The Moomin’s Day mug has a Moomin 80 anniversary stamp on the bottom of the mug. The mugs have no numbering in the bottom.

 
Which story is the Moomin’s Day mug’s illustration based on?

This year’s Moomin’s Day is all about celebrating the Moomin 80 anniversary and the very first Moomin story, The Moomins and the Great Flood, where the Moomins make their first appearance. It’s a story about Moomintroll and Moominmamma’s mission to find Moominpappa. In the end they also find the Moominhouse––a place where everyone is welcome as they are, the foundation of the Moomin way of life. 

 

Who has designed / illustrated the Moomin’s Day mug 2025?

Mug has been designed by Moomin Arabia Design Team.

 

Will these mugs be sold also after Moomin’s Day?

The mugs are only sold during Moomin’s Day campaign.

 

Buying process

 

Will there be a queuing system for Moomin's Day?

Yes. To ensure the best possible customer experience we will set up a queuing system on the site. To make sure the site performance we are not able to let everyone in simultaneously.

 

How does the queueing system work?

Site will be blocked already in the afternoon of 8.8. On 9.8. at 10:00 (EEST) you will get to the queue in randomized order and you will see the estimated waiting time while waiting. 

Keep your browser open while waiting in line, and ensure you have a working internet connection, and that your device has enough battery power. You will see your estimated wait time on the page. When it’s your turn, you will have 10 minutes to complete your shopping on moominarabia.com.

If your browser is not active, you will have 10 minutes to access the Moomin Arabia website. When it’s your turn, you will be automatically directed to the Moomin Arabia website. If your browser is not active, you will receive a notification when it’s your turn, after which you will have 10 minutes to access the Moomin Arabia website.

After queuing, you will be directed to our webshop, where you can shop as usual. Once you have placed your order, you will receive a confirmation email. Please note that due to the high volume of orders, there may be delays in receiving the confirmation.

 
How much time do I have to complete the purchase?

Please notice you have 10 minutes to complete your purchase.

 

There were technical difficulties in the online store and I couldn’t get my order through. Who can I contact with my complaints and feedback?

We apologize any inconvenience you might have experienced while ordering the mugs. With any feedback you can contact our customer service at: info@moominarabia.com.

 

Can I buy other products on Moomin’s Day.

Yes, shop is open, and you can buy anything you want during Moomin’s Day. Please note that due to high volume, your orders might be shipped partially. Our website will return to normal after the Moomin's Day campaign.

 

Do I need to be a Moomin Arabia Family member to order Moomin’s Day products from the online store?

You do not need to be a Moomin Arabia Family member.

 

Can I order a product as a gift?

Yes, you can order a product as a gift. Please note that the billing and delivery address must be in the same country. We deliver to Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom. You can find more detailed delivery terms here. Gift wrapping not available during Moomin's Day.

 

Payment & Delivery

 

How can I track the delivery of my product? 

You will receive a shipping confirmation e-mail with a tracking number. Please note that due to the high volume of orders, there may be delays in receiving the confirmation. 

 

Are there any extra costs (taxes, duties, customs fees, etc.) I have to pay in addition to the prices shown on your website?

No. The total price is shown in the cart, including all costs. 

 

Which payment options are available?

We accept following payment methods:

When will I receive the Moomin’s Day mug if ordering online?

The mugs will be delivered after the Moomin’s Day, the normal delivery times are extended by +10 working days. Delivery time: about 12-18 working days.

What does it mean if my order is shipped separately?

If you buy any products other than Moomin's Day mugs and towels from our website, you order might ship in partial shipments due to high volumes. Please notice our extended delivery times.

 

Can I remove products from my order or modify ordered products?

Unfortunately, we’re unable to add or remove products once the order has gone through. However, our return policy allows you 14 days to return a product.

 

Can I cancel my order?

To provide you with the fastest possible delivery, we process orders immediately after they are placed. As a result, we are unable to accommodate order cancellations. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to serving you with prompt and efficient service. You still have the right to return the order during the 14-day exchange and return period. You can find more information about returns in the section Returns and refunds.

 

Can I change my delivery address? 

To provide you with the fastest possible delivery, we process orders immediately after they are placed. However, our customer service can check whether it is possible to make changes to the shipping address of your order. In this case, please contact our customer service here as soon as possible and state your order number, which can be found in the order confirmation. Please note that the billing address you have entered cannot be changed.

 

Can I return my order?

Yes, for all items ordered from our webstore, you have a right of return and refund during a period of 14 days from the day you receive your order. Please contact our customer service at through Contact us when you want to return your order. Remember to keep the receipt and include your order number in the email. You can find the order number in confirmation email we’ve sent you. All returned items must be in their original condition.

 

Can I use discount codes on my order?

Discount codes do not apply to the Moomin's Day special products: mug, tea towel, t-shirts, tote bag and key chain. 

 

Do I have to return the free gift (Moomin's Day Kitchen towel)?

Yes. If you received a free gift with your Moomin's Day mug order and wish to make a return, please note that the free gift must also be returned. We reserve the right to deduct the price of the free gift, 16.90€  from the refund amount.

 

Can I get my products gift wrapped?

Unfortunately, we can’t offer that during and right after Moomin’s Day.

 

What happens to products that are returned. Will they be offered for sale?

Returned products may be offered for sale. We also reserve the right to use these products for various marketing and PR purposes.

 

What if I receive a broken product?

We’re sorry for the inconvenience. Please contact our Customer Service at info@moominarabia.com and they will assist you. Indicate your name, order number and product concerned. Attach an image of damaged product if possible. You can find the order number in the shipping confirmation email we’ve sent you. Please keep the product while awaiting instructions from customer service.
We would ask you to send back the broken product. Our Customer Service will arrange for the replacement or refund of such product(s). Replacements are only possible if we have the product in stock and if not, you will receive a refund.

 

What if charging my credit card fails?

If charging your card fails, we will cancel your order.

 

I haven’t received a confirmation email for my order. Has my order gone through?

There may be a delay in receiving the confirmation message for the order. The confirmation should arrive within 1–2 days.

 

I ended up back at the end of the queue after successfully paying for my order, and I didn’t receive confirmation in the online store that my order went through.

If your payment was processed normally, your order has most likely been successful. Please note that during a popular campaign, there may be a delay of 1–2 days in receiving the order confirmation message.

 

Can I make purchases using both my mobile device and desktop computer?

Yes, all devices work. Please notice that you need to use the same device to purchase as you used to join the queue.  

 

I have not received the product, what should I do? 

Please contact our customer service: info@moominarabia.com.
First, please check the tracking information provided by the delivery company to see if your order is still on its way. If you haven’t received a shipping confirmation or the tracking shows that the shipment has stalled, please get in touch with our customer service.
However, please note that due to a high volume of orders, it may take 12–18 business days to pack and ship your order.

 

Where do you deliver?

We deliver to Finland, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany and Poland. Please select the correct country by using the globe icon on the right corner of the website.

We are not able to deliver to the following: VAT-free areas, PO Box addresses, hotels, hostels or army barracks.

We do not deliver to the following territories: In the United Kingdom, Guernsey (e.g. Alderney and Sark), Jersey or Gibraltar, as well as to the following which do not apply EU Value Added Tax regime: In Germany, Büsingen und Helgoland, Greenland, Faroe Islands or Svalbard.

Please note that the shipping and billing addresses must be in the same country.

We are not able to deliver to the following: VAT-free areas, PO Box addresses, hotels, hostels or army barracks. See Shipping & Deliveries for details.

 

I was unable to receive/pick up the shipment. What will happen to my order?

Depending on the delivery attempt and the courier used, your shipment may be reattempted for delivery, redirected to the nearest pickup point, or returned to the sender. Please primarily follow the tracking information provided by your courier to monitor the shipment’s progress.
Unclaimed and undelivered shipments are processed as returns within 14 days of their arrival at our warehouse. The refund will be issued according to the original payment method.
