Moomin mugs 1990's
The Moomin mugs' story began in the early 1990s as Arabia asked illustrator Tove Slotte to design Moomin themes on the mugs from Arabia's Teema tableware series. Tove Jansson's original illustrations from her Moomin stories were an ever-inspiring source and still are today.

Moomin mugs 2000's
After the turn of the millennium and a successful decade that started the Moomin mug boom, many new Moomin characters were introduced. In 2006, Arabia also launched their bi-annual seasonal collections, featuring active summer and winter scenes and making way for rarer characters on Moomin mugs

Moomin mugs 2010-2015
By the 2010s, many previously released Moomin mugs had already become collectors' highly sought-after favourites. In the new decade, limited and special editions just grew the enthusiasm – not only in Finland, but all around the world.

The latter half of the 2010s was a time of specialties, characters' first appearances, and the first-ever Moomin's Day mug that sold out in minutes.

Moomin mugs 2020-2022
The early 2020s was a delight – especially for tea drinkers! Along with the new mug releases in the continuous collections, Arabia introduced the bigger 0.4-litre mugs with a series illustrated with familiar 1990s motifs as well as the all-new Alphabets collection. At the end of 2022, the beloved illustrator Tove Slotte retired after a decades-long career designing Arabia's Moomin items.

Alphabet mugs 2022
The Alphabet Collection with bigger Moomin mugs invites you to set the table with meaningful words and surprise your family & friends with the mugs with their initials. New letters are introduced every year until the alphabet is complete. The letters paired with Moomin characters are based on Tove Jansson's hand-drawn lettering appearing, e.g. in Moomin maps. The collection is part of Moomin Characters' Reading, Writing and the Moomins initiative, spreading the joy of reading and writing.

Moomin mugs 2023
In 2023, new magical winds started blowing. Arabia celebrated their 150th anniversary and introduced the first mug design, Journey, by illustrator Parvati Pillai from the freshly-appointed in-house design team. The "by" was dropped from Arabia's Moomin brand name and logo, and the Journey mug became the first one with the new Moomin Arabia bottom stamp.
