We teamed up with the wonderful Bella Table to whip up something sweet together! Bella Table is a joyful Finnish food community and podcast, created to inspire a love for cooking.
Now Bella Table has created a series of easy, delicious mug cake recipes you can bake right in your favorite Moomin mug. Baking mug cakes is the most fun summer activity – whether with family or friends, or just enjoying a peaceful mo(o)ment on your own!

Cinnamon Roll in a Moomin mug
Ingredients:
1 tbsp butter
3 tbsp milk
1 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
Cinnamon Butter ingredients:
1/2 tbsp butter
1 tsp light brown sugar
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions:
- Melt 1 ½ tbsp butter in the microwave.
- Add the dry ingredients to a Moomin mug and mix well.
- Add the milk and 1 tbsp of the melted butter, then mix quickly into a batter.
- In another mug, mix the remaining melted butter with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Spoon the cinnamon butter over the batter and swirl gently with a spoon a few times.
- Microwave on full power (900W) for 1 ½ minutes.
Let cool briefly and enjoy!
Lemon olive oil cake in a Moomin mug
Ingredients:
2 tbsp sugar
3 1/2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1 tsp organic lemon zest
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp milk
To serve: Whipped cream & fresh strawberries
Directions:
- Zest the lemon in a Moomin mug. Add the sugar and press the zest-sugar mixture along the sides of the mug using the back of a spoon to release the lemon flavor.
- Add the remaining dry ingredients and mix well.
- Add the lemon juice, olive oil and milk, and stir quickly into a smooth batter.
- Microwave on full power (900W) for 1 ½ minutes.
- Let cool slightly and serve with whipped cream and strawberries!
Bilberry mugcake
Ingredients:
0,5 dl all-purpose flour
1 tbsp (instant) oats
1,5 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp butter
3 tbsp milk
3/4 dl fresh bilberries
Directions:
- Measure all the dry ingredients into a mug and mix well.
- Add melted butter and milk, then quickly mix into a smooth batter.
- Add the bilberries and stir a few times.
- Microwave on full power (900W) for 2 minutes.
- Let cool and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and fresh bilberries.
